Weather from the Klamath Basin
for the Klamath Basin

Good Morning, I'm Christopher German and this is your Local News Network update for Tuesday, January 13th, looking ahead to the middle of your week.
I’m coming to you from the heart of the Basin, where the air is turning sharp, and the wood smoke is hanging low over the rooftops of Klamath Falls.
We’ve seen our share of wild winter swings lately—from the heavy, wet snow that tests our patience to those brief, golden moments of high-desert sun—but as we settle into the mid-portion of January, things are finally finding a bit of a steady rhythm.
Whether you’re gearing up for a commute down 97 or just heading out to check the mail, you're going to want to keep that heavy coat by the door.
Klamath County Forecast for January 13 and 14, 2026

The outlook for Tuesday, January 13th, suggests a day defined by crisp air and excellent visibility across the county. We are looking at a high of 51°F, which is quite respectable for this time of year, though you shouldn't let that number fool you during the early hours.
The morning will start off under clear, freezing skies with a low of 23°F, so expect to spend a few extra minutes scraping the frost off the windshield before you head out. As the sun climbs, we’ll see mostly sunny skies with just enough cloud cover to keep things interesting.
The wind will be nearly non-existent, drifting out of the northwest at a gentle 2 mph, so we won’t have much of a wind chill to contend with. There is a very slight 10% chance of a stray flurry, but for the vast majority of us from Merrill to Chiloquin, it’s going to be a dry, bright day.

As we move into Wednesday, January 14th, that trend of calm, clear weather continues and even warms up a touch.
We’re forecasting a high of 53°F under full sunny skies, which should make for a beautiful afternoon for anyone working outdoors or taking a walk along the Link River Trail.
The overnight low will once again drop to 23°F, maintaining that sharp contrast between the midday sun and the midnight freeze. Humidity will sit around 63%, and with the UV index moving up slightly to a 2, it’s a perfect window of stable weather before any future systems move in.
That’s a wrap on the forecast for your Tuesday and Wednesday. As you head out into the morning chill, take a second to look up at those Cascades and remember how lucky we are to call this high desert home.
Whether you’re heading down to the Waffle Hut for a cup of coffee or just navigating the day-to-day grind, let’s keep an eye out for one another on the roads and in the community.
